The Downtown Alliance started the Downtown Farmers Market (DTFM) in 1992 to create a new tradition in downtown Salt Lake City by providing an opportunity for local growers, food and craft artisans to sell directly to the public. The DTFM has found great success in connecting Utah's rural and urban communities. A second mission was to add the energy and vitality of a market to aid in the growth and development of the neighborhood surrounding Pioneer Park. This year, the Market celebrates its 21st year in Historic Pioneer Park – another delicious season full of local flavors!
In 2003, the Salt Lake Downtown Art and Craft Market was established and now runs adjacent to the DTFM to accommodate the increased demand for locally made goods. Our mission extends beyond our growers to encompass the broader community of business. The result is a certain 'feel' unique to Utah providing a window to our region.
The Downtown Art & Craft Market features unique local art and handmade crafts. We encourage artists working in new or traditional styles to apply. Our objective is to create a colorful and authentic display of quality, locally made, handmade crafts and artwork at varied prices. A jury of qualified professionals will review the Downtown Art and Craft Market applications. Jurors' decisions are based on quality and appeal as well as the overall balance of the various media represented.
The Art & Craft Market can accommodate more than 120 full and part time vendors offering a wide variety of creations. Market patrons can expect to find locally made personal care products, home décor, leather goods, woodwork, clothing, ceramics, jewelry and fine traditional or contemporary artwork.
The application period is February 1 through April 5, 2013. You will be required to submit photographs and an artist statement.
