July 20: Cheese & Wine Tour

The tour begins with a overview of the cheese making scene in Utah, presented by Matt Caputo, while sampling and wine. From Caputo's Market, we will drive to Eden, UT to visit Snowy Mountain Sheep Creamery and sample their cheeses paired with wines from local purveyors, Kiler Grove. On the farm, you will experience a farmstead dairy operation from the animals to the milking process to the cheese making panache. The tour is July 17. Meet at Caputo's at 3 pm. Tickets are $40 including wine, light snacks and transportation.

August 17: Fruit & Honey

Join us for an exploration of local fruit—past, present and future. The tour begins at the Salt Lake Art Center with a guided tour of the Fallen Fruit exhibit. At the museum, we will learn about fruit wines and juices from local purveyor, The Hive. From there, we travel together to the Historic Fruit Highway where we will meet Cari and Thayne of Tagge’s Famous Fruit to discuss their orchard as they move towards organic certification. Martin, beekeeper and owner of Slide Ridge Honey, will join us on the farm to talk about pollinators and their service to the orchard. Of course, we will sample the many wonders of the harvest along the way. The tour is August 17 at 3 pm. Tickets are $30 including light snacks and transportation.

September 22: Veggie Pick & Pickle

This month's tour takes us to Orem to visit Jacob's Cove for a veggie pick and pickle. Join us for a tour of a local veggie farm that specializes in growing nutrional, organic, heirloom veggies. You might know them best at the Market for their gorgeous raised display of heirloom tomatoes. On the farm, we will have a chance to pick fresh veggies and then participate in a group quick pickle party led by Utah's own, Raw Melissa, to preserve a piece of our harvest. The tour is September 22 at 3 pm. Tickets are $30 including light snacks and transportation.
