The Downtown Farmers Market is proud to celebrate 35 years as one of Salt Lake City’s most beloved summer traditions—bringing together local farms, food producers, artisans, and community members in the heart of downtown.

Beyond fresh food and local goods, the Market is a vibrant public space—filled with music, creativity, and connection. We invite local musicians and performers to help create this atmosphere and contribute to the energy of the park. 

Our Market Musician and Artistic Services programs are designed to support local artists while enhancing the experience for vendors and visitors alike.

Market Musicians

Local performers with acoustic sets may apply as Market Musicians. This is an unpaid busking program, with performers allowed to collect tips.

Market Musician Guidelines

    • This is an acoustic performance program.

      • Market Musicians must be able to perform fully acoustically (no amplification).

      • Light percussion is permitted.

    • If your performance requires amplification or power, this program is not the right fit.

    • Market Musicians check in at the Market Information Booth to receive a badge and performance location.

    • There are 6 designated performance locations throughout the market.

    • Market Musician shifts are broken up into AM (8 AM to 11 AM) and PM (11 AM to 2 PM).

    • Parking is available nearby; vehicles are not permitted inside the park.

    • Performances must remain acoustic at all times - amplification and electricity are not permitted. Light percussion instruments must be approved by market staff.

    • Market Musicians must remain in their assigned location for the duration of their shift. However, market staff has authority to move and reassign performer spots to facilitate market operations as needed.

    • Any Market Musician whom market staff feels is not complying with the market rules may be asked to leave, especially if the performance interferes with market operations or any vendor's ability to do business.

    • Market Musicians are responsible for keeping their space clean.

    • Merchandise may not be sold at the market.

    • Tips are permitted; performers are responsible for reporting all income to the state tax commission.

    • For the safety of all market patrons, the following are not permitted:

      • Weapons or hazardous objects (including knives, axes, torches, etc.)

      • Open flames or dangerous materials.

  • Urban Food Connections of Utah (UFCU) welcomes all regardless of race; color; national or ethnic origin; age; religion; disability; sex; sexual orientation; gender; gender identity and expression; including a transgender identity; genetics; veteran status; and any other characteristic protected under applicable federal or state law.

    UFCU and the Downtown Farmers Market is not liable for any injury, theft, or damage to either the busker or their property arising from, or pertaining to, preparation for or participation in the Downtown Farmers Market. Regardless of whether such injury, theft or damage occurred prior, during, or after the Downtown Farmers Market, the busker further agrees to indemnify and hold the Downtown Farmers Market harmless for and against any claims for such injury, theft, or damage.

    Should UFCU receive a complaint from other vendors or customers, market staff may revoke participation privileges indefinitely.

    UFCU reserves the right to refuse participation to any who do not comply with market rules, regulations or meet market standards, including but not limited toadhering to all local, city, state, and federal laws.

Artistic Services

The Artistic Services category includes balloon twisters, face painters, caricature artists, tarot card readers, and more. Artistic Services pay to participate in the market, and may set prices for their services.

Insurance Requirements

Face painters and bodywork professionals are required to provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000) or greater for each market attended. Downtown Farmers Market/Urban Food Connections of Utah (UFCU) must be named as an “Additional Insured” on the Certificate. If you have insurance, speak with your agent about adding UFCU. If you do not currently have insurance, please plan to get insurance before the start of the season.

Artistic Services Guidelines

    •  The fee for Artistic Service vendors is $10/day or $100 for the season.

    • Fees must be paid prior to or on the day of participation.

    • Artistic Services vendors must arrive in time to be fully set up by 7:45 AM.

    • Artistic Services check in at the Market Information Booth to receive a booth location.

    • Artistic Services booths are subject to availability based on prioritized placement of Downtown Farmers Market and Art & Craft Market vendors. An Artistic Services booth may change locations every participation date.

    • Parking is available nearby; vehicles are not permitted inside the park.

    • Artistic Services must remain in their assigned location for the duration of the market day.

    • Market staff may reassign booth spaces as needed to support operations.

    • Artistic Services must get prior approval from market staff to erect a tent or structure of any guide, and must follow all tent weight guidelines provided by market staff.

    • Artistic Services are responsible for keeping their space clean.

    • Artistic Services may post prices for their services, participants are responsible for reporting all income to the state tax commission.

    • For the safety of all market patrons, the following are not permitted:
